August 30, 2023

DRYDEN, ONTARIO - The Dryden Regional Health Services Foundation is pleased to announce that Dr. Alison Lewis and Dr. Skylar Arpin have signed 2-year return of service agreements with the community. Lewis and Arpin are 2nd-year Northern Ontario School of Medicine University (NOSMU) Residents currently training in Dryden.

"I am very excited to be working as a family doctor here in Dryden! My residency has been amazing; I am really looking forward to starting my career here," states Lewis. "My intention is to work in the clinic, hospital, ER Department, and provide obstetrical care."

"This announcement validates the great work that our physicians and staff invest in supporting medical learners," says Doreen Armstrong-Ross, DRHC CEO. "Our relationship with NOSM University-Université de l'EMNO is a key pillar in our physician recruitment strategy; this is a wonderful success story for our community."

"I am so excited to have signed a return of service contract with Dryden, I absolutely love it here." notes Arpin. "I was born and raised in Northwestern Ontario, I spent 8 months in town as a third-year medical student and my two-year residency is here. I would not want to live or work anywhere else." Arpin plans to practice as a Family Physician and provide hospitalist and ER services.

Arpin and Lewis will start their practice in Dryden in the fall of 2025 alongside fellow NOSMU Resident Dr. Joclyn Hron. Hron committed to a return of service agreement with Dryden in 2022.

DHRC Chief of Staff Dr. Bruce Cook says, "We have had the great fortune of working closely with these residents and watching their skills and confidence grow. They will all make significant contributions to the healthcare team in Dryden; this is very good news for everyone here."
